Great photo of the hummingbird, Packrat. I love seeing all that chinchweed in the desert.
Is that a grasstree - the tall plant with the spray of leaves out the top? We have lots of grasstrees here. They grow in rocky situations with lower growing shrubs. Looks like the desert is really blooming!

No, not a grasstree. It's an especially tall Soaptree Yucca. I googled to see if they were perhaps related, but they're not.
Yes, the desert is really blooming due to the abundant rainfall we've had of late. I've run into several hikers recently who can't believe how green it is!
