Monsoonal Flow

Among the first Barrel Cactus buds I've seen this season
We're in the monsoonal flow, all right.  Becca and I had to hike through high humidity on our early jaunt, and it wasn't very pleasant.  It's amazing how, on a relatively cool morning, you can work up quite a lather when the dew point is elevated from the influx of moisture.  Although we had no rain yesterday it looked as if it might start at any given moment.  Same today, and I think our chances of actually getting a measurable amount of precipitation is better.  We can always use the rain here in the northern Chihuahuan Desert.

Beautiful photos of the barrel just beginning to bloom. I'm sure you'll be photographing more of them as the summer progresses.
