New Battery Day

Doing a little bushwhacking
I cut the hike a bit short this morning because I had to get home, shower and make an 11:00 appointment at Firestone to buy a new battery and have it installed in the 2008 Jeep Commander.  Earlier, during our trek, we saw a few outdoor enthusiasts on and about Tortugas Mountain, but we didn't encounter any of them even though three hikers were behind us as we finished up.  I'm still griping about the hot weather; again, today, we're supposed to hit 90F.  I understand that in the relative scheme of things 90F is not all that toasty, but after coming through a prolonged, sizzling hot summer season it's way past time for things to cool down.

I've hiked past this gravestone scores of time . . .
