High Country Independence

This and the next:  just west of Tortugas Mountain
Becca and I did a shorter than normal hike this morning because we had to gas up Whitey the CR-V on the way home and mail a bill before getting back to finish packing for a trip to the high country, where we are now.  It's supposed to be 100F in the low desert, but 85F up here at 7,000 feet.  85F is still hot, but it's a lot better than broiling down below at the century mark.

After we unpacked everything and ate lunch we went outside for a brief walk around our property, but it was pretty hot for all of us so we scooted back indoors quickly.  It's supposed to drop to 60F tonight so, hopefully, things will start cooling off pretty soon.
