Cold With Little Sun

First 2:  sky at start
It was damned cold when we started off this morning, cloudy with no sunshine.  To make matters worse an intermittent icy breeze added to the chilly conditions.

We had planned to hike up to Second Arroyo, but the weather altered our intentions.  Before reaching First Arroyo we struck eastward up a ridge into the hills west of Tortugas and then bushwhacked down into First Arroyo.  Since it was too cold even to stop for water we headed westward to LDR and started on the final leg of our trek.

By then the sun was trying to break through the cloud cover, providing excellent light for photos.  Sunlight didn't do much to warm us up, though, and we were grateful to finally reach our waiting CR-V.

I especially like the penultimate photo of the desert floor and the Organs.
