Beyond Hump Day

Willow and Frio
30F at the start of our trek this morning, felt like 24F.  Conditions seemed much colder than yesterday due to a persistent wind.  The wind did creative things with the clouds over the Organ Mountains, but didn't do much for our warmth.  Of course the Heelers weren't bothered in the least.

We hiked up to First Arroyo, stopped inside for a brief water and photo break, and then headed back.  We saw no other outdoor enthusiasts in our section of northern Chihuahuan Desert today, and only spotted a few Black-tailed Jackrabbits.  The last "Jack" we saw caused Mr. Frio to launch himself into full pursuit mode, but I held him back before he'd expended more than half his retractable lead.

Probably because of the cold weather both Willow and Frio seemed to have unlimited energy, and it took supreme effort for Dr. K and I to keep them on track.
