We did the standard hike, but took additional shade breaks due to the heat. We usually leave the choice of stopping in shadow up to Willow who's not hesitant about pulling up for a respite.
We all were pretty anxious to get out of the hot desert sun and back into the air-conditioned comfort of the CR-V.

Beautiful photos of the Barrel cactus buds and blossoms. I have always loved that orange-yellowish color.
