American Kestrel Again

Tortugas Mountain from LDR-A arroyo
Dr. K, Willow, Frio and I did another hike in very pleasant weather conditions today.  Same route, same good exercise.

Just after we had climbed the steep hill out of Right Branch Arroyo and right before we all climbed into the CR-V, Dr. K pointed to a nearby yucca and said, "Isn't that your friend?"  She was referring to an American Kestrel perched atop a yucca stalk, probably the same kestrel I've photographed a few times in the recent past.

We heard a few dogs barking while we were out there this morning--probably the Bassets who hike frequently with their owners--but we never saw them.

Last 4:  probably the same American Kestrel as in days past

Beautiful images of your friend the Kestrel, especially the last two.
