Basset Sighting

1st 3:  Frio and Willow
30F at start today; cold, but no wind, plenty of sunshine.  When we were driving up Tellbrook to the trailhead we saw Mr. and Mrs. Basset with their five hounds hiking up the side of the road.

Later, after we had descended LDR-A arroyo, turned right on the east/west cross trail and began our ascent up Left Branch Arroyo we spotted the Basset Hounds and their companions again, this time on the ridge just east of us.  There was some barking on the part of the Bassets and whimpering and pulling on the part of the Heelers, but no real interaction.

After we descended the middle branch and began our trek up the right branch I let the Heelers off lead.  They were very well behaved the rest of the way.

This & next:  looking northward

Tortugas and the Organs

What's that?

I really like that last photo of the Heelers. They so often hear or smell something that immediately captures their attention.

Down the Mountain

Morning sky (camera) Did a slightly shorter version of our forest hike this morning in anticipation of packing up and heading down the mount...
