Angry Skies
It rained this morning before Becca and I hit the trail, and we were hoping that we'd get through our hike without getting wet. Didn't happen. About midway in it started to sprinkle. Then the wind picked up from the northwest, blowing in a robust storm system that pretty much soaked us. We couldn't get back to the car soon enough. Despite the drenching, it was great being out in the dynamic weather. At home, Becca got a thorough drying with a nice thick towel.

Once you're wet (or realize that you're going to get wet and there's nothing you can do about it), it IS exhilarating to be out in a storm. I hope your camera didn't get wet.
Temperatures in the mid-50s here in the northern Piedmont today with cloudless blue skies. Tomorrow's supposed to be much the same--good weather for the Audubon Christmas Bird Count.

When rain looks to be imminent I always bring along a special plastic bag for my camera. The worst soaking we ever got was a few years ago when Dr. K, Becca and I hiked a long way up the Apple Tree Canyon Trail in the Sacramento Mountains. For the last 1 1/2 mile headed back to the car we were in a heavy thunderstorm, beneath huge pine trees, and the frequent lightning strikes literally raised the hair on the napes of our necks. We had just gotten the Jeep Commander, and when we finally climbed in Becca baptized the interior by shaking herself off repeatedly.
