Warming Up

27 F. when we started off this morning.  The sun and the absence of wind made it seem far warmer.  We had a slight temperature inversion, which kept dirty air close to the surface of the earth. We saw a few other hikers, but there was some type of activity at the top of the mountain; five or six trucks drove up the road while we trekked west of the mountain.
