#1 Hike of the Week

Getting started on the west side of Tortugas
Another beautiful morning in the Chihuahuan Desert.  The Beckster and I did a semi-long hike along the west side of Tortugas Mountain; I cut it a bit short because I'm worrying about Becca's limp, and I don't want to exacerbate the problem by hiking too far.  We saw only one other person--a woman who walked partially up the road to the mountaintop, but then turned around and headed down.  The video is of a Scott's Oriole in the top of a Torrey Yucca.

I love the music of that oriole.

Our orioles (Baltimore) haven't arrived here yet, Packrat, but my stepmother reported that a Scott's oriole had returned to her nectar feeder in northern San Diego County last week.
