Big Change of Weather

Just starting out, west of the mountain
The big winds that hit the area beginning yesterday afternoon ushered in a heck of a cold front.  We were near 80 F yesterday.  We'll be lucky to hit 60 F today.  And it's still extremely windy.  It made for an unpleasant hike this morning, with blowing dust and sand in the air.  We did run into Jimmy on the way back; we walked to our vehicles together.  He's as nutty as we are when it comes to hiking in the elements.

Spring weather in the desert is so unpredictable.

We're headed for 85 today (Wednesday), Packrat, but then only the low 60s over the weekend. (Normal this time of year here is 61.)

I often wonder how animals deal with wind-blown sand. I hope Becca's corneas aren't scratched.

Thanks for the concern about Becca, Scott. All desert dwellers' corneas are probably scratched, though my eye doctor has never mentioned it. Which reminds me: time to make another eye appointment.
