On the Hunt

I'm going with Tansyleaf Aster (Machaeranthera tanacetifolia)
Becca and I hiked into the upper foothills of Tortugas Mountain this morning, crossed down into the lower desert, and then looped around for the rigorous climb back up into the high foothills using the single-track trail on the west side.  Midway back Becca spotted a Red-tailed Hawk perched behind us.  He was hunting for breakfast (Mouse McMuffin?), but spent a lot of time eyeballing us.  Perhaps from a distance Becca and I seemed like tasty morsels.
One way to go

Resisting the urge to bushwhack

Who's that Becca spots behind us?

Looks like somebody has spotted us

It's a Red-tailed Hawk

Do we look like prey?

Heading to another perch

Majestic creature

What's that look signify?

Nice photos of the red-tailed hawk. I'm glad Becca spotted it. As you say, it is a majestic creature.
