What are the Odds?

The same Red-tailed Hawk we saw yesterday
It's a rare occurrence for us to see the same hawk in literally the same spot as yesterday, but that's what happened this morning.  We had descended from the mountain on the western single-track when I saw the raptor take flight from the south side of the trail and fly to perch where we saw it yesterday.  It was very obliging in allowing for multiple photo-ops, but I didn't take nearly as many shots as I did twenty-four hours earlier.

Becca has a 2:10 appointment to get her rattlesnake vaccine booster, though I haven't mentioned it to her yet.  She gets very anxious at the vet's office:  paces, pants, drools and doesn't care how much she embarrasses us.
It eyed us in the same way

It was in the same spot as yesterday

Definitely hunting for breakfast

What a majestic raptor

Twice I saw it fly, and it's a pretty big specimen

West of Tortugas Mountain

Ants battling over a tiny tortilla or . . .

. . . regular-size tortilla and enormous ants?

I'm not sure which object the tug-of-war is over

Becca after our trek, but before a trip to the vet for a rattlesnake booster

I assume that the hawk's nest is close-by. What a treat to see it 2 days in a row.
