Steamy Trek

Cholla flower
We got a little rain late last night, and it must have rained overnight as well because everything was quite wet this morning when Becca and I headed out.  Not only was it wet, though, the humidity was extremely high, and the weather conditions for our hike can only be described as "steamy."  Add to that discomfort a blazing sun and little breeze and you have a recipe for a miserable trek in the northern Chihuahuan Desert.  That's it in a nutshell.

Recent rains have chewed the trail up pretty good

Torrey Yucca blocking the sun

How's this for camouflage?  Horned Lizard

Tortugas (left) and the Organ Mountains

Talk about a wide arroyo

Huge Ocotillo and a midsize Torrey Yucca

Some raindrops from last night still cling to Ocotillo leaves
