Cloudy Delight

Rainbow as we were leaving home
We got a real break on our hike this morning; it stayed partly cloudy most of the way.  Without the sun beating down on us the weather felt rather cool.  Dr. K, Willow, Frio and I appreciated the change very much.

We saw no other hikers or runners out there today, which was surprising given the conditions.  Doing our normal trek up to Second Arroyo we popped in for a shade and water break.  Because it felt cool I did a little roaming around for the sake of finding photo-ops, and I came away with a few good shots.

The cloud cover had the added effect of keeping us cool enough to not feel depleted of energy by the time we got back to the CR-V--a real bonus.

I love that last photo of the closed-up prickly pear flower. And I'm glad you were able to get a shot of the rainbow.
