I took the opportunity to photograph a family of quail on the grounds here at COC. It seems rather late in the spring for Mom and Dad to have such tiny chicks, but here they are. Mother and child reunion (with Pops bringing up the rear).
Brother and sister in an irrigation canal.
Huey and Dewey?
Yikes! That's quite a drop.

Can you tell the difference between male and female chicks?
I'm forever seeing quail families trotting across the road. I always worry about them getting smashed by cars...I'm sure there are plenty of perfectly 'average' people out there who actually try to run them down.
