The Promise of Rain

Down from the mountain
It was very humid on our hike this morning, but we were blessed with a nice, stiff wind.  The promise of precipitation is in the air, and, as always, we need it desperately.  You can see from the closeup photo of the Ocotillo in image # 4 that the flora in the desert have benefitted greatly from our recent rains.  The only bad thing about high humidity is that it makes our home swamp coolers pretty ineffective as they rely on evaporative cooling to air-condition the house.  That's why many desert residents also have "refrigerated" cooling devices.
