TGIF Trek

The brisk wind really made this morning's hike bearable.  Otherwise it would have been plain hot and humid.  We saw a lot of law enforcement activity on Tortugas, and when we ran into Jimmy later he told us they were looking for a missing woman, who he had actually encountered and talked to.  Apparently, she had spent the night on the mountain, and there was an all-out search for her.  (On an unrelated note, I have no idea how Becca got so much dirt on her nose.  It was hard to get off.  Dogs!) [Part I of two.]

I hope everything is OK with the woman they were searching for.

A year or so ago, we had a suicidal woman wandering the preserve here. (Her boyfriend called the police to tell them that the young woman planned to kill herself.) Police showed up in droves--it was a real manhunt. They found her before she could do herself harm.

That's a sad story with a happy ending--I hope.
