Semi-Snowy Trek

High Desert snow
We hiked about three-fourths of the Bridal Veil Falls Trail this morning before heading back.  Much of the trail was still in snow, though the spots where the snow had melted were very muddy.  We felt like we were hiking with bowling balls on our feet at times because of the mudpack on the soles of our boots.  It wasn't too cold out there--anorak over down vest weather.  We ran into a guy named Phil and his female dog Murphy.  We've encountered them on this trail before.  Murphy and Becca had fun running in circles before we all parted company.

I'm so glad that the volunteers from Rails to Trails built this beautiful trail.

Very nice snowy images--again, a chance to enjoy the white stuff vicariously.

Many years ago, Kali and I backpacked into the remote back country of Zion National Park. It rained during a significant portion of our trek, and our boots quickly accumulated a layer of mud about four inches thick. So, I know whereof you speak with regard to walking with bowling balls strapped to your feet. You probably needed Becca's handy-dandy paw cleaner when you got back--for your boots!

Hiking with mud glommed onto your boots is one of the most unpleasant experiences, Scott.
