The image of the road to Alamogordo is vertiginous! It reminds me of the road approaching Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California coming into the park from the west (from central/northern San Diego County)--the route with which I'm most familiar since a significant portion of my extended family lives in that part of San Diego.
We got about 2" of snow yesterday (Saturday), but the forecast calls for a series of increasingly warmer days, so it will be short-lived.
"Vertiginous" is an apt descriptor, Scott. The road from Cloudcroft to Alamogordo drops 4,300 ft. in 16 miles.
