Sunday Morning Going Down

A beautiful hike along the Grand View Trail this morning went a long way toward reducing the anxiety I've felt for the past few days concerning the dead-tree issue on our Sacramento Mountains property.  We have so many dead pinyon pine trees that we're going to have to contact a tree man (person) to cut down and remove the dead wood.  The trees present a real fire hazard.  Here's a link to an article explaining the cause of the massive die-off of pinyons.

It's nice to be able to forget your cares, at least for a little while, while hiking on a beautiful trail.

What grand views! There are about 8 pines around our Colorado house, and we have to have them sprayed or the western pine bark beetles will decimate them. I forgot to contact the spray guy last year. The previous owner had a contract, but I forgot to renew the contract when we bought the house in August 2012 and so the trees didn't get sprayed this last spring. I hope that the beetles didn't get the trees over this summer! I've since rectified my mistake and the trees will get sprayed next spring--I just hope they're still living! Just what we need--8 dead pine trees to remove from a house we don't even use, plus the lost of the aesthetic amenity the trees provide.
