Toasty Weather

Temperature before sunrise this morning
We hit 101 Fahrenheit yesterday, and we're headed for 103 F today.  Even our early start could not compensate for the heat this morning--as you can see from the thermometer at left.  There was a steady breeze that crossed over into a wind while Dr. K, Becca and I trekked west of Tortugas Mountain, but it wasn't really cooling; in fact, more often than not, it was a hot wind.  It did serve to evaporate perspiration, so in that regard it did help keep us from overheating.  We saw quite a few bikers and joggers in the desert, but we only had an encounter with one--a woman we see running quite often.

It's nice to see that most of the ocotillos have greened out.

It was only in the upper 80s here yesterday (Sunday), but we're supposed to get to the low 90s today (Monday). Nonetheless, the humidity is very high here, and Kali and I are staying indoors for the most part. Triple digits are really hot, whether it's low humidity and windy or not.

We've had some high humidity, too, Scott, but not like back east. Still, after living out here for three decades or so I cannot take even moderately-high humidity. That's why I dread the most humid months of monsoon season, and long for those first cooler, drier days of fall.
