La Chiesa di Natura

Barrel Cactus buds
We got a very early start on our Sunday morning hike today, which consisted of this:  down LDR-A to the major east/west arroyo, up LDR to Second Arroyo, east into the arroyo for a shade and water break, brief exploration (by me) for photo subjects while Dr. K waited with the Heelers, and then a retracing of our steps.

On the way back up LDR-A we saw three horseback riders behind us on LDR, and then, a short while later, a young guy in a passenger car driving up LDR to where it intersects with Tellbrook.  Not sure who would want to drive a car on that dirt road, but to each his own.

On the way home we made a detour to our local gas station to refuel Whitey the CR-V, and then we drove up Geothermal Road to see how crowded it was at the gate to the dirt road.  Neither Frio nor Willow seemed upset by the extra-long ride.

At first I thought it was Jimson Weed, but now I'm not sure
