Along the Osha Trail

Mountain Rose
When we moved from Tucson, Arizona to El Paso, Texas Dr. K and I had never heard of the Sacramento Mountains in southern New Mexico.  A couple of months after our move we read an article in the El Paso Times about the Osha Trail in the mountains near Cloudcroft, New Mexico.  The very next weekend we made the one-hour-forty-minute drive there, and we've been going ever since.  It's a high mountain trail--all of it above 9,000 feet--and we never tire of the scenery.  It's a very popular trail and, not surprisingly, we ran into quite a few people today--Father's Day.
Ready to get going

Dense forest

An open canopy above provides sunlight below

Coming back to see what's taking us so long

Somebody's watching through the trees

Move a little to get a better look

Time to mosey along

Do I look anything like Bambi?

Getting serious about going

Champ and Cowboy with Dr. K

Just the right spot

Try to keep cool, Packrat. Kali and I are off to Colorado on Thursday for 9 days (including a few at our retirement house outside Fort Collins). It's forecast to be very warm and steamy here in the northern Piedmont this week, and I think that the Front Range is going to be very warm, too.
