Interesting Encounter

See-through legume pod with yellow beans
On our way back from a long trek this morning Becca and I met an interesting woman on the high foothills trail.  She's a mountain biker who had stopped to photograph Strawberry Pitaya Cacti, a teacher from Canada--originally from the UK--who is new to this area.  Because I seemed somewhat knowledgeable about desert plants she asked a lot of question about Chihuahuan Desert flora and fauna (especially rattlesnakes).  I enjoyed our brief conversation very much because she was so curious, and interested in learning as much as she could about the region.

Those see-through legume pods are interesting--I wonder why they're transparent?
