Another Dogless Trek

Hairy Velvet Ant (Dasymutilla arenivaga)
Today was the third day I left Becca at home when I did a morning hike, and she seems to have benefited from the time off.  Tomorrow I'll take her on a short trek to monitor her leg and make sure she doesn't start limping again.  This has happened to her three or four times now, and we're hard-pressed to figure out what's causing the problem.  I continually inspect her paw pads for thorns or puncture wounds, but I don't find any.  We're hoping she'll recover quickly from this latest incident and be able to get back on the trail.

I really like the different shades of pink of the plumed crinklemat flowers.
