Before the Wind

This and the next:  same House Finch, different Ocotillos
It was warm and almost windless when Dr. K, Willow, Frio and I hiked up to Second Arroyo this morning.  After a brief respite inside we bushwhacked over to First Arroyo and made our way back.

We're headed for a high of 76F today, and it really started to heat up by the time we reached the waiting CR-V.  Fortunately, though, we were able to avoid the wind, which, early this afternoon has begun to pick up noticeably; later today it will reach 20 mph or higher.
