Excellent Dogs

Western flank of Tortugas Mountain
Aside from Willow pulling moderately on our way down LDR-A arroyo this morning we had a really good outing--excellent, really.

Just after crossing into Middle Branch Arroyo from the left branch we decided to let the Heelers off lead to gauge their behavior.  It couldn't have been better.  They led us all the way down the middle branch (with occasional stops for treats), and then they turned south up the Right Branch Arroyo.

They stayed with us or just slightly ahead as we made our way all the way up to the staging area just before starting on the grass-lined narrow trail.  I put them back on their leads then for the hike over the steep hill back into the upper flatland.  Frio and Willow earned A+s for their behavior today.
