High Rolls Snow

Septic tank side of the property
We woke up to about an inch of snow this morning, and the temperature was quite cold.  Nevertheless Dr. K, Willow, Frio and I braved the elements in order to do a short hike in the forest near our cabin.

Before we left Dr. K called my attention to the small herd of elk cows having breakfast at our place--behind our place to be exact.  I went outside to photograph some, and they acknowledged my presence without anxiety.

After the trek I photographed what looked to be a wet Red-tailed Hawk being harassed by a blue jay.  Got some halfway decent pics of the hawk, but none of the jay.

This & next 7:  elk at breakfast

Nice photos of the elk munching down in our backyard. My favorite image of them is the second one.
