First Century Mark

Devil's Claw
As soon as we left the house this morning we saw that something was burning hot nearby in a neighborhood southwest of us.  The smoke from the fire was nearly black, signifying ongoing burn.  From the desert during our hike I captured a photo of white smoke billowing from the fire, meaning it was being extinguished.

After the trek, while driving down Tellbrook, I could see the road blocked ahead by a sheriff's SUV and fire trucks.  I drove all the way down to get some photos.  What burned was the old wood-shingled A-frame eyesore that had been dilapidated for years.  I wondered if somebody had finally torched the place.

The air--even in our neighborhood--smelled of smoke for an hour or more.

I would discover what was burning on the drive home
