Holy Hike

If you really want to experience firsthand the works of the Great Spirit, don't go to a human-made church and sit in pews next to human beings and listen to a human priest/minister/rabbai/imam etcetera expounding on the works of God/Yahweh/Allah etcetera; go instead to the natural world and feast on the creations that are "other" than human. Contemplate, for instance, an incredibly large ocotillo.
Behold delicate purple blossoms.
Take in the sinuous shape of a mountain with desert below and sky above.
Reflect on the living arrangements of a couple of prickly buddies.
Or admire the fragile beauty of a delicate flower. But for God's sake, don't go to church.
