Spectacular Morning, Long Hike

The three of us--Dr. K, Research Associate Becca and I--started off on a research outing this morning, intending to spend 60 to 90 minutes exploring the east side of Tortugas Mountain. Instead, we spent over two hours circling around the base of the mountain. The views were awesome.
Clinchweed was blooming everywhere, its lemony fragrance heavy in the air.
We also saw quite a few of these deep pink/purple specimens, which I believe to be Trailing Four O'Clock.
The low clouds, partially covering the Organ Mountains lent a sense of mystery to this vista.
A hot, but very happy canine.
