First March of March

Strange symbiosis
It was a gorgeous morning on the mountain, sunny with little breeze.  Becca and I did a longer hike along the edge of Tortugas, then down into the outback.  We were looking for Mule Deer, but didn't spot any.  Later, back at the base of the mountain, we saw several people heading for the mountaintop.  We also saw a young mother headed back toward Geothermal with her young son and a brand-new puppy.  It was such a cute sight I wished later I had taken a photo of them.  Bumped into Greg, who was headed for the crest.

Great photos of the roadrunner--it's easy to tell why they're so fast.

Great pix of the strange symbiosis and the roadrunner (I love 'em, probably because I don't see them often).

What did you do for a career before you retired, Packrat?

You often know when a Roadrunner is near, Scott, because they make an interesting "clucking trill" noise that's distinctive. Listen to the very end of the "call/rattle" audio and you'll hear what I mean:

I was a college English teacher before quitting to pursue a career as a freelance writer.

Thanks for the roadrunner call link and your reply about your former life, Packrat. Kali teaches university-level English composition, but she also manages the university's learning support and tutoring services.
