Crowded Saturday

Seeking shade wherever she can find it
There sure were lots of people on and about Tortugas Mountain this morning, attributable, no doubt, to the holiday weekend. Nevertheless, we managed to minimize contact by doing a long trek into the outback.  Very hot, yet very peaceful in the desert today.  There was a steady wind, which helped moderate the heat, but it proved to be pretty hot regardless

'Twas cold here yesterday, Packrat. Normal highs this time of year should be 77, but it barely got into the low 60s on Saturday, was cloudy, and the wind was blowing hard all day. Though chilly, I'll take that any day over summer heat. Because of the chill, damp wind, the preserve was almost deserted. We're supposed to get to 90 on Wednesday and Thursday, so we'll pay dearly for the pleasantness.

It's one thing when it's 90 here, Scott, but a completely different thing back there--even if the humidity isn't especially high. Make that pitcher of iced-tea now so you can watch it sweat.
