Cold and Windy Surprise

This and the  next:  Tortugas and the Organs
Both Dr. K and I were surprised when we checked our weather apps and discovered the high was only going to be 56F today; not only that, but the wind was going to be substantial.  I underestimated just how substantial, failing to bring along an ear band and gloves.

Even though the sun shone brightly it still felt very cold out in our section of northern Chihuahuan Desert this morning; due to the weather conditions we decided to forgo any exploration and just hike up to First Arroyo and back.

We saw several other people out there, but had no direct encounters with anyone.  We didn't bump into any desert critters, either, most of whom were wise enough to stay sheltered from the elements.
