Chilling Out

First 2:  Swainson's Hawk
It felt downright chilly when we started off on our hike this morning:  52F with a stiff breeze.  What a welcome change from the heat.

Usual trek today with a lot of stops for photographing birds.  Neither Willow nor Frio seem to mind frequent breaks.

At first, when I noticed the Swainson's Hawk on its usual perch, I thought of bushwhacking over to try to photograph the raptor at close range, but I changed my mind almost immediately after having the idea; Mr. Swainson's took off and was gliding in search of prey for the entire time we were out there.

Three Turkey Vultures made some low overhead passes to check us out, but decided we weren't worth the effort.

I like the photos of the Turkey Vultures, especially the last one. I'm glad they weren't interested in you or the Heelers.
