Cool and then Hot

Sky when we started out
67F and cool when Dr. K, Willow, Frio and I started off this morning; and then conditions began to heat up.  The humidity was sky high, and whenever the sun broke through the clouds we felt as if we were hiking in a broiler oven.

Nevertheless, we trooped on and did our regular desert trek.  Along the way we heard, and then spotted, the young Swainson's Hawk who is frequently making a racket; I suppose it's still complaining about not having food handed (beaked?) over from one of its parents.  I guess it'll learn soon enough how to fend for itself.

We were all happy to hop back into the CR-V at hike's end for the air conditioned ride home.

Wonderful photos of the juvenile Swainson's Hawk. My favorites are the ones where it's looking right at you.
