Stepping Out on Monday

The new Centennial High School in the distance
It was much cooler when Becca and I set off for Tortugas Mountain this morning.  We got in a long trek before encountering other hikers.  We crossed paths with two very attractive young women (the local college must be on spring break) who made cooing noises at Becca and who nearly made me retch with the sickly perfume one or the other had bathed in.  Honestly, it was quite horrific.  Both women were rather "dolled up," and it made me wonder why anyone would go hiking like that.  Of course, I routinely find cigarette butts alongside the trails.  Hiking and smoking?

Mormon tea can really help lessen allergies.

We occasionally get women here going for walks in heels, so the dolled-up dolls with their perfume doesn't surprise me much. And, hey, Packrat, those smokers NEED that nicotine hit to give them the energy they need to get up the hill.

Once when a friend and I were hiking back up the Bright Angel Trail out of the Grand Canyon we came upon a small group of hikers, one of whom was a woman in high heels. Honestly. And they were about one mile down trail from the rim!
