Break from the World

One of the nice things about being able to get out into nature every morning with Becca is it gives my mind a chance to take a break from the world; and recently the world has seemed a particularly nutty place to me.  The social unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, renewed conflict in Gaza, the many failures on the part of the dysfunctional U.S. Government to take significant action on ANYTHING, the perpetual focus by the media on the 2014 elections and even the 2016 presidential election have all got my head spinning wildly.  Of course, more and more frequently when I'm out in the natural world I'm worried that the morons who are running things back in "civilization" are the same ones who seem totally unconcerned about ruining the environment that sustains us all.  And then, naturally, Becca and I have to return to the insanity, to the never-ending bombardment of information that comes at us from seemingly every direction.  Not surprisingly Becca is immune to information overload.  Her priorities are simple:  eating, drinking, relieving herself of waste products, sniffing and barking at other dogs.  Oh, and eating--did I mention eating?  Her genuine lack of concern about the social ills of human beings is one of the things I like best about her, and it's why I like being around her.
