Morning sky on fire |
Becca and I are . . . |
. . . here |
Now we're heading into the lower desert |
Stopping for photos of leafy Ocotillos and |
yellow flowers |
Sunlight through an Ocotillo makes leaves even greener |
Tasajillo (tass-a-HEE-yo), aka "Christmas Cactus" |
West into the outback |
A still-green Chihuahuan Desert |
Hedgehog Cactus |
A very tall Torrey Yucca |
Probably a fox hole (Becca was very interested) |
Long-distance view of Tortugas and the Organ Mountains |
Don't think I've ever seen this plant before |
Turns out it's Abert's Buckwheat (Eriogonum abertianum) |
Heading back in |

I'm glad that Becca didn't encounter a fox even though she might have found a den.
I've never heard of tasajillos; aren't I glad I stopped by today? The image of the yellow flowers and the ocotillo is really nice.
Thanks, Scott. Tasajillo is more commonly known as Christmas Cactus because of all the red fruit that resembles Christmas tree bulbs.
