Midweek Walkabout

Black-Tailed Jackrabbit
We've encountered a Jackrabbit in the same location several times recently, and I've wondered if it's the same individual.  He doesn't seem unduly frightened by our presence, yet he takes off if we begin to move away from him.  He seems pretty curious about us.  He's in an arroyo on the west side of Tortugas Mountain.  Check out the camouflage.

Those jackrabbits are surprisingly big--larger than most house cats.

Not only are your ocotillos blooming this late, I've got azaleas blooming right now! Boy, are they in for a rude surprise (I expect).

I'm heading east in less than a week, Scott. Hope the cold weather holds off until I'm back west.
