Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument

Entering Aguirre Springs National Recreation Area
If the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks Wilderness Act eventually passes through Congress and is signed by President Obama this area will become a national monument.  For environmentalists, conservationists and nature lovers it more than meets all the requirements.  In my opinion it should qualify on beauty alone.  You can learn more about it here:

Aguirre Springs is the area that Kali and I hiked when we last visited southern New Mexico. We got all the way to the saddle of the Baylor Pass Trail and had lunch with two two gay guys who had come up from the west with their friendly dog. It was a memorable and beautiful day. We retraced our steps back to the parking lot.
