Midweek Meander

A series of photos from our long ramble in the Chihuahuan Desert this morning.  On impulse I removed a large petal from the Soaptree Yucca flower stalk pictured below, wiped it off thoroughly and ate it.  Quite tasty.  As I've mentioned before some Native American people (especially the Apache) consumed yucca flowers as delicacies.

I hope Becca knows how to get help if anything happens!

I really like the fifth-last image. For some reason, it really captures the great distances between you and the Organs, the ruggedness of the mountains, and the nice sweep of desert between.

I'm doing a day-after full moon night hike in 10 minutes (we got rained and clouded-out last night, so this is a make-up). I don't suspect I'll get any images to share, though. Plus, with 13 people, there won't be any wildlife to photograph anyway.
