Cool Before the Heat

Starting here
Becca and I did a moderately-long trek west of Tortugas Mountain this morning, and we enjoyed the cool weather.  We have a heatwave heading our way that's supposed to push the temperature into the low 90s by Thursday.  Becca and I ran into our pal Jimmy on the way back to the trailhead, and he and I chatted for a while about a book we read and enjoyed:  Eugene Manlove Rhodes's Pasó por aquí, which, according to Jimmy, is one of the top 25 books of its genre.  In 1948 a movie was made from the book--Four Faces West--which I watched recently on Amazon Prime.

It's such a treat to be able to look out of our window and see those beautiful cholla flowers.
