Cool Due to High Overcast

This & next:  morning sun through overcast sky
We did nearly the same hike as yesterday with one small addition:  halfway up the new arroyo we took the east branch until we reached the large family of Soaptree Yuccas pictured below.  Once there we turned around, headed down to the junction, and then followed the west branch up into its narrow reaches.

After Frio and Willow obligingly posed for portrait photos we continued on into the head of the new arroyo, climbed the steep hill out, and made our way along the upper flatland road toward our waiting CR-V.

We hadn't reached our vehicle when the Heelers spotted a guy walking his dog up Tellbrook Drive.  Eager to get over to them, both Frio and Willow attempted to pull me off my feet so they could drag me face first through the cactus-filled desert.  Fortunately I was able to resist their efforts, and I made it safely over to the Honda despite their protestations.

I really like those photos of the morning sun and the overcast sky. And of course I love the photos of Frio and Willow, who were posing for you so willingly.
