A Very Hot Sunday

A slight haze over the Organ Mts. from yesterday's winds
We are heading for 101 F (38.3 C) again today, yet another toasty day in a string predicted to last all of next week, too.  We encountered two mountain bikers on the Monte Vista side of Tortugas (Tortoise) Mountain this morning, but those were the only people we saw in the outback.  Skies were a bit hazy from the strong winds we experienced yesterday late afternoon and early evening--winds that were not in the weather forecast.  Good thing we had a little wind out there today, though, or we would have roasted a little more quickly.

The "four sisters" Barrel Cactus

Becca always finds shade no matter where she is in the desert.

I really like the composition of the last image (with the four barrel cacti).

I've been pretty ill since last Wednesday, Packrat, hence my lack of commenting. At first, I thought I was coming down with the flu, then decided I had hepatitis. The worst day was Saturday, most of which I spent in bed. I finally wrangled a doctor's appointment this morning (Monday); the doctor assured me it's not the flue and that it's not hepatitis (thank goodness for that), but she's a bit flummoxed on a diagnosis. We're running a battery of blood and urine tests, and I have a follow-up appointment next Monday. I'm feeling a bit better each day, but I'm still far from recovered.

Really sorry to hear about your malaise, Scott. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for the compliment about the barrel cactus pic. The "sister" in back isn't in fine feather; her chances of making it, I reckon, are about 50/50.

Get well.
