Replenishing the Ranch

Torrey Yucca in the foothills west of Tortugas Mountain
Becca and I got a really early start this morning, and it felt pretty cold because the temperature was under 30F.  On the first leg of our trek we encountered no other hikers, but we saw two women headed for the mountaintop.  On the inbound leg we ran into two trekkers--a man and woman--and the man said of Becca, "That's a nice looking dog you have there."  I thanked him for his accurate observation then began worrying that his comment would simply go to Becca's head.  Will she start behaving like a beauty queen?
