All photos are of areas just west of Tortugas Mountain where Becca and I did a moderately-long hike this morning. We ran into a guy named Joe--who we often see on Saturday mornings--and he and I stood in the high foothills chatting for a spell. While we stood talking pickup trucks (five in all) drove up the mountain road, each with a trailer full of wooden pallets. They're readying the mountain for Tortugas Pueblo's annual Our Lady of Guadalupe pilgrimage to the shrine at the crest.

This area has a lot of spiritual meaning for the Tortugas Pueblo.
It really does, Dr. K.
